Wycombe Homeless Connection
Wycombe Homeless Connection was originally known as the Wycombe Winter Night Shelter, and was set up in 2007 by a group of local Christians to provide emergency care for local homeless people during the winter months from January to March. It accommodates up to 10 homeless guests nightly, providing not only the essentials of a warm shelter, dinner, bed and breakfast but also friendship and practical support with homelessness and other issues.
WHC is a shared venture including 7 churches that provide venues one night a week supported by around 300 volunteers from around 60 churches of all denominations, and volunteers not attached to churches.
Wesley Methodist Church is one of the venues providing the Friday Night Shelter, and the High Wycombe Methodist Circuit is pleased to support WHC financially.
WHC is involved in multi-agency collaboration with Wycombe District Council, the Probation Service, the Old Tea Warehouse hostel, the Police, the Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme and several drug & alcohol counselling services.
WHC now runs year round drop-ins and a support service for people re-housed during the shelter or those who are made homeless when the shelter is not running.
